Larry “Wheels” Hinson
(May 20, 1958 – November 27, 2004)
The Larry Hinson Memorial Scholarship was established in 2006 in honor of Larry Hinson. Larry was first a baseball fan, coach, umpire and friend to youth sports in the Rock Hill area. The scholarship fund will be awarded to a senior baseball player from Northwestern, Rock Hill, and South Pointe High School.
Last years winners were… Jesse Brewer (RH), Chris Hyatt (NW), and Brad Zebedis (SP)
Larry was a very active coach with Rock Hill Parks and Recreation, and YMCA youth sports. He loved helping kids find and develop their special talents. Larry cherished his relationship with close friends from childhood to adulthood. He was constantly heard to challenge friends with his famous words… “Who Loves You?”
Larry is survived by his son, Ryan Hinson to whom Larry devoted his life as a father, coach, mentor, and best friend.
